Judith H. presented a $400 cheque to Niverville Helping Hand from the Niverville United Church Women. The money was collected as a goodwill offering at their annual Christmas party and fund raiser. Thank you to all who so graciously contributed including guests from the United Churches in Steinbach and Transcona.
Our UCW is a small but mighty and very active group at Niverville United Church.
This group has a long and honored position in this congregation. They began as the Ladies Aid and became the United Church Women in 1925 when we joined the union and changed from a Presbyterian Church to the United Church. The first $250 for the original building fund was raised by these ladies. They continued to raise money to pay many of the bills like heat, light and salary over the years.
These days they carry on the tradition of fundraising and fellowship marked by dinners, card parties and quilting.
